So I wrote this story about two and a half years ago, my girlfriend at the time wanted a story. This is what I gave. I've made a lot of revisions, changed it, made it a lot longer. The original was sent over text taking about 7 full texts to get it done. I wrote it but was sick of it so I didn't post it up, but now that it's been like a week and I'm bored at five in the morning sounds like a great time to do it. It's not really meant as a story to be enjoyed, just to be read and even then it's not really worth it.
The dance was held in the city hall in late April. He'd heard about it and decided to go, once again, so that he could get out of the house. The house is such a boring place.
It was raining the night of the dance, so he decided to walk. It was a three mile walk, so he left early. As he walked he kept his face to the sky allowing the rain to consume his mind. It didn't last long enough, he was at city hall before he knew it. He walked into the building and looked around. It's a pity he was so anti-social, or this would be a lot of fun. He decided to go get a drink from a drinking fountain... A long one.
After he finished his ten minute drink he went to the main room. There was loud music and a huge turn out, everything he hated about public places. He took his place in the back corner of the room to observe. People are interesting to observe. Have you ever taken yourself away, and been nothing more then an outside observer? You get to see how people act and react. He watched as a guy asked a girl then a girl asked a guy. Things continued. A nervous guy here, a blushing girl there, even a few couples making out. It was surprisingly dull. That is until the girl in the black dress showed up. She walked through the door like any other girl, like she wasn't the most beautiful girl in the world. Her dress was unnecessarily large and pitch black. She was hardly wearing any make up, and she didn't need any. In fact it almost seemed like the make up was there to try and conceal her beauty. As she walked across the room, her dress billowed all around her, nobody reacted to her. It was unbelievable, everybody acted like she hadn't walked in. He couldn't take his eyes off her. He had stopped observing everyone else. Who was this girl? How had he never seen her before? This can't be real. This girl, she's too much to take in. Even in the dim light her green eyes shimmered. She stood alone in the corner. Observing. He was in aw. He almost pinched himself to see if this was real. He didn't have to. He couldn't imagine a beauty such as hers. She was perfection. She began to move. He couldn't let her just go, he needed to talk to her. He needed to be with her, have conversations. He had to know her. She was so over dressed, she had to be the daughter of someone rich, and yet nobody acknowledged her. These guesses and speculations would not suffice. He moved toward her. Surely she had realized there was little entertainment value in observing here. She definitely saw him moving toward her, no turning back now. But he hadn't even thought of something to say! She caused him to act before thinking, that has never happened. An introduction would probably be best. He approached her slowly, then bowed.
"My name is Justin Rayslip" he said royally.
"Hello, I am Allison, Allison Sonya Hanway" even her voice was perfect.
Angelic, is the only word even close to describing her. Maybe divine. Nothing could get near describing her. As he started to plan his next move, a slow song slipped it's way through the speakers.
"Ms.Allison Hanway, may I have this dance?" he said, bowing once more.
"You certainly may Justin Rayslip" she said with a curtsy.
He took her hand and began to dance. She was an excellent dancer as well. They began twirling elegantly, and gliding gracefully. No one gave them a glance, as if they had been removed from existence. These two, they were made for each other. No two people have ever been meant for each other as well as these two are. It's as if the meaning of their existence had been to meet one another, there could be no other reason. They had not known life before their hands met. they did their dance all night, until the dance was coming to a close. As the final song faded away she looked up, and gently kissed him.
"I don't want tonight to end. I can't let it. I know there's more" He whispered in her ear.
She smiled. His heart stopped with it's unbelievable flawlessness.
"Justin, will you walk me home?" She asked wonderfully.
"I'd love to" he replied.
They walked through the exit, remaining totally unnoticed by everyone.
As they walked they told each other all about themselves. They came to her house too quickly.
"Good night Allison. Sweetest dreams" he told her.
"All my nights will be good, and my dreams the best now that I have you. Justin, never leave me" She said happily.
"I couldn't if my life depended on it my love."
She smiled, then gave him one last squeeze and walked into her house. He was above the clouds, he had to tell someone about her! He had to get home! He took off across the yard and sprinted home. He blew through the door, and ran into the kitchen to find his brother. Just as he had expected, his brother was siting at the table, dipping tortilla chips in salsa then carefully placing them in his mouth.
"I met the most amazing girl at the dance!" He said.
"You did eh?" His brother replied.
"Yes! I did she's unbelievable!" He yelled in excitement.
"So you love her?" His brother inquired before eating another chip.
"I do! I'm going to marry her! We told each other all about ourselves while we walked home!" He proclaimed
"Oh? Everything? Are you sure you didn't skip over something?" His brother asked.
"Well everything important. Everything she needs to know" he responded coldly.
"Uh huh... And you don't feel like you're not lying or anything?"
"Well... She knows what matters"
"Really Justin? The fact you're not human doesn't matter?" He asked and took a bite of another chip.
He had no response. He stood up and went to his room. He needed to think. He paced around his room. Surely she would look past this minor detail. Essentially he was human... More or less. She would be OK, he was sure of it.
He ran to her house, and lightly threw a rock at her window. Luckily she had still been up, changing most likely. She came to the window. She asked what he was doing there and he responded.
"There was something I didn't cover in my history today. You see, I'm not exactly "Human"" he said with air quotes.
She smiled
"Well of course not, you're an angel"
He chuckled nervously.
"Babe... I'm being serious. I can do things humans can't... For example" he said has he walked over to the car. He picked it up with one hand, and lifted it over his head, then put it back down. In order to make sure she understood, he took out his tail, and stuck it in the solid grass and soil. The look on her face was sheer horror. It quickly progressed to a deeper fear.
"It's still me! Don't be scared! I love you!" He said clearly in pain.
"I kissed... That thing?!?" She whispered horrified.
"No, please don't talk like that" he pleaded.
Things quickly became out of hand. She ran to wake up her parents. They of course didn't believe her. Humoring her they looked outside of the house, of course there was nothing there. Her parents went back to sleep. She called the police, telling them she had a stalker. They came over and talked to her. She told them the whole story, they looked up Justin's name. There wasn't so much as a birth certificate for a person with his name.
One thing led to another, it drover her crazy with the stress and confusion. She ended in an insane asylum, hanging herself. He of course had been following all of this. He also realized it was his fault that his beautiful love had ended tragically early. The total blame was his. Have you ever been directly responsible for the death of the one you love above all else? There's nothing in the world that gives you a worse feeling. That's why he ran home. He went into the house and found the Christmas lights they put up last year. He wrapped them as tightly as possible around his neck, as he ran up the stairs. He tied the other end to the railing at the top of the stair case. He threw himself off. He felt some bones in his neck break, and the air slowly leaving his body. His brother walked in with a cup of coffee and stood in front of him.
"Having fun little brother?" He asked calmly.
He felt all the air was out of his lungs, but he didn't lose consciousness. He felt some discomfort, but that's all. Then he felt the bones in his neck re-form to the way they originally were.
"You can't die. You're unkillable" his brother said, taking another hardy sip of his coffee.
He pulled the lights off, and went to put them away. He wasn't giving up. He continued to attempt all the conventional ways of offing yourself. Guns, Pills, Cutting wrists, And electrocution. Nothing worked. He tried everything. Fire, Falling, Drowning, Dismemberment, Combinations of everything. Nothing seemed to work. He hadn't tried one thing though. He set up a large elaborate trap. He set it up flawlessly. He positioned himself, pulled his tail out, and beheaded himself with it. His head fell into the large hole he had pre-dug, his body fell down with no way to be told to stand. It knocked over a piece of wood that was holding all the dirt, dropping all of it on top of the head. His consciousness was now trapped inside the dirt. Unable to move, speak, hear, or do anything but think... Think about how he killed the one he loved. Able to do nothing other then think, and feel his never ending pain.
